In three decades of being expelled from Magic Circle for her identity, a woman has been given official membership.
Elite Society wrote in an Instagram post, “We are proud to welcome magician Sophie Lloyd in Magic Circle.”
To promote the art of magic, the society dedicated to promote the art of magic, “30 years ago, Sophie took extraordinary steps to pursue his passion-you have to join all our then all-men as ‘Raymond Lloyd’, although he passed his exam and earned his place, when his true identity was revealed, we were voting for votes.”
“Today, we are right that is wrong,” said in conclusion.
On receiving the certificate, Ms. Lloyd said, “I am thrilled.”
In 1991, Ms. Lloyd made her way into the circle by fooling the examiners. Women wizards were not allowed to become members of the Elite Society at that time. He used a bodysuit, wig and crockery voice to fit. He also wore gloves to hide his woman’s hands.
Later the same year when Magic Circle decided to allow women to become an official member, Ms. Lloyd revealed the truth and was dropped from society.
Ms. Lloyd said that she got the idea of ââhiding herself while studying a mime in London in the 1980s. His magician’s friend Jenny Winstonale was rapidly disappointed that women, including themselves, could not join the magic circle.
“So she came with an idea to infiltrate the society by giving me a dress like a man. She could not do this herself, because she was very recognizable,” she said BBC,
Last year, Magic Circle started searching for Ms. Lloyd and has now made it a part of society.
Laura London, the first female chair of the society, said, “I felt important that Magic Circle should be able to recognize Sophie as a role model for female magicians, as well as show that we are now a completely open society.”
