Kyiv:
Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelansky on Sunday took an irony pinch about his choice not to wear a suit at the White House on Sunday, where he faced a dressing-down from Donald Trump.
In a video released by a former actor and comedian, The Presidency, Zelancesi, thanked the audience at the end of his speech at an award ceremony, saying: “Sorry I’m not in a suit”, for smiling and applause.
The President was dressed in a black dress with the Trishul symbol of Ukraine, which he wore with the US President last month during his sharp exchange.
Since Russia invaded in February 2022, Zelancesi has swapped a suit for gear of casual military style such as Akanksha or T-shirts and flex in black or black.
This makes him stand in any meeting of the leaders and emphasizes that his country is fighting war. His team has followed his example.
But at the Oval Office meeting, a reporter for a right -wing broadcaster, Brian Glenn jokingly asked Zelanski why he was not wearing a suit.
“I will wear (a suit) after the end of this war,” Zelansky responded widely on a widely shared exchange.
Media outlet Exios, citing sources, said that Trump was irritated that Zelansky did not wear a suit in the meeting when US advisors told them that it would be more “respectable” to wear a suit.
Trump sarcastically commented when Zelansky appeared that “he is all ready today”, before he lay down in the Ukrainian leader.
Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov on Sunday gave a long comment on the oval office talks for state television, expressing horror at the exchange.
“Being a diplomat by profession, I could not believe my eyes, nor my ears,” he said, claiming that the rulers have not resorted to such a cruel strategy since “ancient times”.
“It used to be in ancient times, that they would cut the head of a state that went somewhere on a journey or put it in jail. But I think it did not happen even from the mediawell era,” he said.
