Shardiya Navratri 2024 Life 1: Shardiya Navratri has started. Today is the first day of Navratri. Maa Shailputri is the first Durga among the Navadurgas. Therefore, on the Pratipada date of Navratri, Maa Shailputri is duly worshipped. Mother Shailutri is the daughter of mountain king Himalaya. She is known as Shailputri due to the meaning of Shail, Himalayas and being born here in the mountain king. Mother Shailputri is of very simple and calm nature. Mother Shailputri is seated on the entire Himalayas, riding on the Nandi bull, holding a trident in one hand and a lotus in the other. According to religious beliefs, Mother Shailputri had pleased Lord Bholenath by doing severe penance. It is said that if Goddess Shailputri is worshiped with true devotion before Navratri, the Mother fulfills all the wishes of her devotees and bestows them with wealth, happiness, prosperity and health.
