US President Donald Trump said that India pressurized the country to reduce trade obstacles, as he said that he had indicated its readiness to wrongly punish American businesses.
“They agree – by the way, they want to reduce their tariffs now,” Trump said on Friday, commenting on the US economy. India accuses a “large -scale tariff”, which means that the US “does very little business,” he said.
The Ministry of Commerce of India regularly did not respond to the request for commenting on the comment of regular commercial hours.
Protecting India’s access to the US market is a priority for Prime Minister Narendra Modi as it tries to protect his country from mutual duties. Trump has indicated that it will be effective next month.
Trade between the two countries increased to $ 127 billion in 2023, making US India’s largest trading partner and pressurized New Delhi to attack a deal. The two leaders have agreed to increase the trade by $ 500 billion by 2030.
Modi’s government has given several concessions for the Trump administration in recent weeks, which bids to smooth the relationship. The efforts had a widespread decrease in tariffs on products including high -end motorcycles and whiskey, and pledged to buy more American energy and weapons.
Indian authorities have also discussed reducing duties on cars, some agricultural products, chemicals, important pharmaceuticals, as well as some medical devices and electronics, Bloomberg News reported last month.
