This festival is celebrated as a celebration of the birthday of Lord Ganesha. It is believed that Lord Ganesha was born during Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. Therefore, every year this festival is celebrated with great faith on the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. On this day, the idol of Shri Ganesh ji will be installed and people will observe fast. The 10-day birth anniversary of Shri Ganesh ji will begin. On the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, devotees bring home beautiful idols of Lord Ganesha and worship them ritually in the afternoon. Ganesh Utsav will start on 7th September and the immersion of the idol of Lord Ganesha will take place on 17th September. On the day of Ganesh Chaturthi, Lord Ganesha is worshiped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. Ganeshji is considered the first to be worshiped among all the gods.
