India won their third Champions Trophy title with a four -wicket win over New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday. The team successfully followed 252 with six balls.
Skipper Rohit Sharma led 76 runs off 83 balls and led the front, which had the foundation of Chase. Shreyas Iyer scored 48 runs from 62 delivery, while KL Rahul remained unbeaten at 34 from 33 balls to guide India to the rear of the target. Hardik Pandya added 18 runs to a brief stay at the crease.
Batting first, New Zealand posted 251 for seven in 50 overs. Derryl Mitchell scored the top with 63 out of 101 balls, Michael Bracewell remained unbeaten at 53 with 40 balls, and Rachin Ravindra scored 37 runs in 29 delivery. Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakarwarthi took two wickets respectively, scoring 40 and 45 runs respectively.
India maintained control throughout the tournament, won the title without losing a match. The team first won the Champions Trophy in 2002 and 2013. No other team has won the tournament three times.
