Indigo parents get GST demand order of Rs 116 crore


IndiGo parent Interglobe Aviation Limited said on Wednesday that it received GST demand orders which are a total of Rs 116 crore.

According to an exchange filing in this amount, the South Commission of Delhi includes the Additional Commissioner and Services Tax of the Central Goods and Services Tax, as well as the GST and Central Excise, Penalty from the Joint Commissioner of Chennai South.

The Additional Commissioner of Delhi has imposed a fine of Rs 113 crore. The department has imposed GST on services to be provided to the offshore recipient. According to the department, it was not export of services. Therefore, it denied input tax credit on some services for the financial year 2017-18.

Meanwhile, the Joint Commissioner of Chennai has imposed a fine of Rs 2.84 crore on the company. The department has denied input tax credit for FY 2018 due to mismatch for fiscal 2020.

However, the company’s filing states that it is in the process of combating orders before the appropriate appellate authority.

It states that there is no physical effect on its financial, operation or other activities due to the developments.
