Karnataka IT Employees Union protest against long work hours, demanding better work balance

Kitu member Ram Kumar said, “When these IT leaders are making statements and are being heard, the people working in companies should also be heard. Working for a long time without creating time for other aspects of life like family and health is not durable. We have health issues due to long -term working hours. We like our jobs, we want to keep doing what we do, whatever we ask is a healthy balance. ,

The first Sangh Kitu has actively demanded reforms. On 13 March 2024, a memorandum was presented to the Labor Minister, alleging that these/ITES companies are not compensating for overtime wages and extending hours of work beyond the legal boundaries. The Sangh urged the government to investigate the actual work hours and overtime payment. But even after one year of many meetings and protests, no concrete efforts have been made from the government to regulate the working hours by ensuring strict implementation of labor laws.

IT workers demand implementation of the daily tenure limit, preventing excessive overtime and burnouts. Eliminating the exemption given to the IT sector from the Industrial Employment (Permanent Order) Act, strict action against the violation of the labor law, and the implementation of the right to disconnect.
