Karnataka IT Union called for a collective meeting of IT employees seeking labor law enforcement

The Karnataka State IT/ITES Employees Union (Kitu) has asked for a collective collection of IT sector employees in Bengaluru on March 9, demanding strict enforcement of labor laws and a healthy work-life balance.

With opposition, the Sangh aims to overcome excessive work hours, lack of overtime compensation, and to remove the expectation of employees beyond the official work hours.

The meeting is being organized under the slogan ‘A healthy work-life balance is the right of every employee’. In a statement, Kitu said on March 13, 2024, that a memorandum was presented to the Labor Minister, alleging that these/ITES companies are not compensating for overtime wages and expanding hours of work beyond the statutory boundaries.

The Sangh urged the government to investigate the actual work hours and overtime payment. ‘But even after one year of many meetings and protests, no concrete efforts have been made from the government to regulate the working hours by ensuring strict implementation of labor laws. In this context, the Karnataka State IT/ITES Employees Union (Kitu) is organizing this collective meeting of IT area employees, ‘it has been said.
