Story of Mother Katyayani
According to mythology, sage Katyayan was an ardent worshiper of Mother Goddess. One day, Mother Durga was pleased with his penance and blessed him with the birth of a daughter. Mother Goddess is called Maa Katyayani because she is the daughter of sage Katyayana. It is believed that by worshiping Mother Katyayani, a person can control his senses. Mother Katyayani was the one who killed Mahishasura. That is why Mother Katyayani is also called Mahishasura Mardani. Apart from this, Mata Rani is called the goddess who destroys demons and demons.
