The central government on Saturday announced recipients of the Padma Awards 2025. The Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian honors of India, which is announced annually on the eve of Republic Day.
Padma Vibhuhan has been honored with Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy, Justice (Retad) Jagdish Singh Khehar, Kumudini Rajinikanth Lakhia, Laxminarayan Subramaniam, Mount Vasudevan Nair (Posthumaus), Osamu Suzuki (Postmaq).
While Arijit Singh and R Ashwin are among the Padma Shri recipients this year.
The awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhan (for extraordinary and prestigious service), Padma Bhushan (Special Service of Higher Order), and Padma Shri (prestigious service).
This year, the government has awarded 7 Padma Vibhan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri Awards.
The awards have been given in the fields of various subjects and activities such as art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.
The Padma Awards are honored on the recommendations made by the Padma Awards Committee, which is formed by the Prime Minister every year.
The President accepts these awards at a formal ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, usually in March or April every year.
