Rama Ekadashi 2024: Rama Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. This Ekadashi falls before Diwali. According to Pandit Ribhukant Goswami, this year Rama Ekadashi fast will be observed on 28 October 2024. This is also known as Rambha Ekadashi. There is a religious belief that by worshiping Lord Vishnu and observing a fast on the day of Rama Ekadashi, one attains Vaikuntha Dham and the person gets relief from all the sorrows and sufferings. This day is considered very special for worshiping Lakshmi-Narayan. According to mythology, Lord Shri Krishna had told Yudhishthir about Rama Ekadashi that by fasting on this Ekadashi with true devotion, one gets virtuous results like Vajpayee Yagya. When is Rama Ekadashi?
According to Pandit Ribhukant Goswami, Ekadashi Tithi will start at 05:23 am on October 27, 2024 and will continue till 07:51 am on October 28. Rama Ekadashi fast will be observed on 28 October 2024.
Pass Timing: Whereas on October 29, 2024, Parana can be performed on Dwadashi Tithi from 06:23 AM to 08:35 AM.
Puja material list: To worship Lord Vishnu on the day of Rama Ekadashi, collect all the worship materials including the idol of Lakshmi-Narayan, yellow flowers, coconut, betel nut, fruits, incense-lamp, ghee, Panchamrit, Akshat, Tulsi Dal, sandalwood.
Method of worship: On the day of Ekadashi fast, wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes. Meditate on Lord Vishnu and if possible keep a fast. After cleaning the home temple, light a lamp in front of the idol of Lakshmi-Narayan. Worship Lord Vishnu properly. Offer fruits, flowers and basil leaves to Lord Vishnu. Offer them food. Chant the names of Lord Vishnu. After this, perform his Aarti. Finally end the puja with an apology.
Rules of Ekadashi fast:
After starting Ekadashi fast, it should not be broken midway.
On the day of Rama Ekadashi, the fasting person should not use abusive words.
Consumption of rice is prohibited during Ekadashi fast.
Eat fruit or satvik food.
Cabbage, spinach and turnip should not be consumed during Ekadashi fast.
On this day, the fasting person should not sweep the house.
One should also avoid getting haircut on the day of Ekadashi fast.
