The World Trade Organization said on Wednesday that the business policy uncertainty and the possibilities of new tariffs can weigh global trade in the moderate period.
According to the Global Trade Regulation Body’s Goods Trade Barometer, the global freight was seen to be stable in the fourth quarter of 2024 and was seen ready to continue to grow in the first months of 2025.
“However, the uncertainty of increase in trade policy and the possibility of new tariffs can weigh on business in the moderate period,” it said.
US President Donald Trump has announced a new tariff against countries including China and Canada. These countries have also announced ventilative duties, causing a trade war.
