When will Jitiya Vrat start: According to Pandit Markandey Dubey, the festival of Jitiya Vrat starts from Saptami Tithi of Ashwin Krishna Paksha and continues till Navami Tithi. The festival of Jivitputrika Vrat will continue from Tuesday 24th September to Thursday 26th September.
Nahay-Khay on which day: According to religious beliefs, mothers observe Jitiya fast without eating or drinking anything for their children. This year Jitiya Vrat will start on Tuesday with Nahay-Khay. Nirjal fast will be observed throughout the day and night on Wednesday. This fast will end by breaking the fast on Thursday. On the day of Jitiya Vrat, the story of King Jimutavahana is also heard, in which King Jimutavahana saved the lives of children by offering his body to the bird king Garuda.
Auspicious time of Jitiya fast: According to the Panchang, this time the Krishna Paksha Ashtami Tithi of Ashwin month is starting on Tuesday, September 24 at 12:38 pm, which will end on Wednesday, September 25 at 12:10 pm. According to Udaya Tithi, on Wednesday, mothers will observe waterless fast of Jitiya Vrat throughout the day and night.
How to break the fast: This year, Jitiya Vrat will be observed on Thursday, 26th September. The fast can be broken any time after sunrise on 26th September, Thursday. After taking bath in the morning on Thursday 26th September, worship the deities of the house. Break the fast some time after sunrise.
